OUR JOURNEY
Translating our vision into reality
IT ALL STARTED WITH A VISION
We adapted the "Design for Change" framework and used what we felt, what we imagined, what we can do and how we can advocate, to come up with many potential projects we could . With much deliberation, we concluded we could best show care to the workers in our community.
THEN WE TOOK UP A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW
We strongly believe that in order to maximise the impact we can make on the migrant worker's community, we had to understand them better.Â
We realised that we often worked on the basis of assumption when it came to deciding what was best for the beneficiary. Hence we decided to take a different approach and interview the migrant workers to better understand and empathise with them.
Here is a short clip of the interview we conducted.
INSIGHTS GAINED THROUGH THE INTERVIEWS
Our workers love to go out and enjoy Singapore.
They are just like any ordinary people who love watching dramas and playing games during their free time.
They love eating Nasi Bryani but are often catered food not of their liking.
Their dormitories are clean but not comfortable.
They miss their homes
Due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, our workers are unable to leave their dormitories.
THE OUTCOME
The interview provided us with an insight into a day of our workers' lives, what they felt and how we could help.

We quickly realised that we could show solidarity with our workers through two distinct ways
To raise awareness and spread their heartfelt story to the entire school population. This was done as an effort to create an inclusive work environment for our workers.
To seek donations in the form of daily necessities for our workers and their friends to use.
THE RESULTS
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much" - Helen Keller
In a span of 2 weeks, we presented advocacy videos to the school population, hoping to inspire the student population to do a part in providing our workers with a positive work environment. Additionally, we organised school-wide donation drive to collect items from cooking ingredients to other daily necessities.
It was a very heartwarming sight to see the amount of donations received. Not only does it show us the impact of this project, but it also amplified the message we wanted to convey to our workers - that they will never stand alone in this dark time.
